Special Meeting Minutes

Present were:

Al St. Louis, Gay St. Louis, Scott Trueb, Diane Becker, John Patton, Suzanne Chapman, Bob Lisiewski, Kathy Demers, Bill Goodale, Tess Gutowski, Valerie Pelletier, Susan Yorgensen and David Sousa (CHA).

Meeting called to order by Al St. Louis at 7:00 PM.

Study Circle/ Kick Off Report by Kathy Demers:  The study circles are almost finished and participation was good.  Over 80 people took part in 6 circles.  They are now gathering the themes and ideas from the study circles which will be presented at the Action Forum.

Action Forum Report by Kathy Demers:    The Action Forum will be held on Wednesday March 13th at 7:00 at the Old Town Hall.  The forum will include a 45 minute “Fish Bowl” facilitated by Pat Scully and a 30 minute Q&A session involving the study circle participants.  The Actions will be posted and pizza and refreshments will be served.  The whole event should run about 2-1/2 hours.

Update from CHA by David Sousa: David explained that they are still in the research stage and in a bit of a holding pattern until 1) the Action Forum is completed and 2) the Vision Statement is developed.  He asked the committee to start thinking about some ideas for the Vision Statement to discuss at the March 26, 2002 meeting.  David said that the Vision Statement should be complete in three meetings.  He also said that it should touch on all aspects of the Plan of Conservation & Development.  The committee seems to agree that the finished Vision Statement should be posted on the website.

Discussion regarding workshops by David Sousa:  David explained that there will be 4 workshops, each lasting 2-3 hours.  The first workshop will be “Visioning” and should take place the first week of April.  The public will be invited to come and discuss their ideas for the Vision Statement.  David will draft a press release and clear it with S. Yorgensen and R. Tulis before it is run.  The second workshop will be “Planning” and will take place in September.

Seeing no further discussion A. St. Louis adjourned the meeting at 7:45 PM.

Respectfully submitted,
